For a long time, people all over the world have said that history is not linear, but periodically produced and destroyed, and time is not linear but cyclical. Of course, there are also views that history is spiraling forward, and the truth depends on the study of the origin of civilization and the course of history. Modern scientific research shows that climate change is cyclical, the conversion of the earth's magnetic poles is cyclical, and the movement of celestial bodies is cyclical. Periodicity can be said to be one of the objective laws. Is history cyclical? If so, what does this period look like? What causes this cycle? So history is not irrelevant to our reality. Reality comes from history and will become the new history. Sima Qian studied the movement of celestial bodies and finally came to a conclusion: "The sky changes a little in 30 years, a little in 100 years, a big change in 500 years, three major changes into one period, three periods and great preparation." That is to say, the movement of the celestial body changes a little every 30 years, a change in a hundred years, a big change in 500 years, 1500 years for a period, 4500 years to complete a cycle. Han Feizi even pointed out that the cycle period is 4560 years. This bears a striking resemblance to the Mayan view of history. But Sima Qian's celestial cycle is not the earliest record of celestial law in China. In fact, China had a periodic theory of the movement of celestial bodies long before Shi Qian. Zhou Bi Suan Jing says: The number of Yin and Yang, the law of Sun and moon, 19 years old is one chapter. Chapter four is about a Bu, at the age of seventy-six. Twenty Bu a hence, hence the age of five hundred and twenty. Three then for a song, the first four thousand five hundred and sixty years old. The seven are one pole; the pole is 31,920 years old. All things begin again." From the perspective of Zhou Bi Suan Jing, Zhou Bi Suan Jing is more specific than Sima Qian's, and Zhou Bi Suan Jing has a larger 31920 cycle in addition to the 4560-year cycle. At the end of this cycle, "all life ends and all things begin again." This historical cycle theory is not only recorded in Chinese classics, but also in Buddhism, and its cycle is even more grand. Looting in Buddhism can be divided into small looting, medium looting and big looting. Each fraction is 16.798 million years; Twenty small eons to one middle eons, 335.96 million years; The 80 disasters were a major disaster, lasting 26.876.8 billion years in four stages: formation, habitation, destruction and emptiness. So there is this historical cycle theory, both in China and abroad, both in Asia and America. It's just that Zhou Bi Suan Jing and Sima Qian's theory of celestial movements are more specific than the Buddhist classics. Zhou Bi Suanjing and Sima Qian's theory of celestial movement not only have cycles, but also a small cycle within a large cycle, and a smaller cycle within a small cycle, interlocking and repeating. Do not think that Sima Qian is only a historian, the ancient historian is a person who also serves as a celestial official, and it is hereditary. Hereditary is because astronomical observation needs to be carried out continuously for a long time, and non-hereditary astronomy cannot be inherited. Their conclusions, often the result of dozens of generations of actual observations, are worth paying attention to. According to the theory of human-nature induction, the way of heaven works in this way, and the history of the human world naturally develops in this way. Before King Wen of Zhou defeated King Zhou of Shang, his ministers urged him many times to send troops to destroy King Zhou, but King Wen was not moved, saying, "You do not know the mandate of heaven, the time has not come." What is destiny? Destiny is destiny and astrology. Ancient emperors were often astrologers, not warriors of later generations. King Wen of Zhou was waiting for the opportunity of a five-star gathering, so it can be seen that King Wen of Zhou knew when this astronomical phenomenon would occur. The appearance of five-star gathering may cause astronomical and geological changes, and sometimes natural disasters will increase accordingly, and the people will be unstable. Coupled with the influence of public opinion, the social psychological shock caused by it is very huge. With the right time, the right place and the right people, King Wen of Zhou ended the Shang dynasty with one blow. Modern historians have not been able to confirm the date of King Wu's attack until an American scholar, using astronomical knowledge, calculated 1046 BC as the astronomical time when the five stars came together.
